DILG CALABARZON recognizes partners in SK mandatory training program
Partner Local Resource Institutions (LRIs) were recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office IV-A for their support in the conduct of the Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training (SKMT), during the second quarter meeting of the Local Governance Resource Center-Multi-Sectoral Advisory Committee (LGRC-MSAC), June 26 in Los Baños, Laguna.
DILG IV-A partnered with 12 LRIs to help administer the SKMT to the newly-elected SK officials of 4,018 barangays in the region held from May 16 to 26, 2018.
Regional Director Manuel Q. Gotis congratulated the LRIs and recognized their role in the successful conduct of the trainings. In Calabarzon, a total of 21,084 SK officials were trained pursuant to RA 10742 or the SK Reform Act of 2015.
”I would like to congratulate our Capability Development Division team headed by Eloisa Rozul, and of course our partner LRIs for all the effort and support you put into the first-ever conduct of SKMT,” the Regional Director said.
“I understand the demands the training entailed and I am very grateful that you (LRIs) embraced these demands and challenges. Again, thank you very much,” he added.
As the main institution tasked to carry out the legwork of the SK mandatory training, LRIs were also given a chance to share their experiences in facilitating the training.
“Now we have a clear understanding of the relevance of the DILG in capacitating elected officials in our communities. We really appreciate the guidance and assistance of the regional management and our provincial director” Dr. Norayda M. Dimaculangan, Dean, of Laguna University shared.
Among the higher education institutions which have provided assistance in the conduct of SKMT include Batangas State University, Cavite State University, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, Laguna State University, Laguna University, and Malayan Colleges Laguna.
Other education institutions including National College of Science and Technology, Southern Luzon State University, University of Rizal System, Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena, and First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities were also tapped to assist DILG IV-A in conducting the said training.

He said that the commission is currently on the works for the next training to fully capacitate the SK officials being the arm for youth development and participation.
