DILG CALABARZON lauds LTIA Regional Winners


On July 28, 2016, the Department of the Interior and Local Government CALABARZON conducted an awarding ceremony for the Regional Winners of the 2016 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA). The said event was conducted at the Southeast Asian Regional Center For Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), UPLB Campus, Los Baños, Laguna.

The Regional Winners received a Plaque of Recognition and Cash Prize amounting to Fifty Thousand Pesos which shall be utilized for development projects of the barangay relative to the implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay. The following Regional Winners received their prizes, to wit: Barangay Marketview, Lucena City (HUC Category); Barangay Mamatid, City of Cabuyao, Laguna (Component City, Category); Barangay Cagsiay 1, Mauban, Quezon (1st-3rd Class Municipality Category); and, Barangay Bataan, Sampaloc, Quezon (4th-6th Class Municipality Category).

Around 135 individuals attended the Awarding Ceremony. They are composed of the Punong Barangay, Barangay Secretary and Lupong Tagapamayapa of the mentioned barangays. Municipal Mayor Noel Angelo T. Devanadera of Sampaloc, Quezon also graced the event in support of Barangay Bataan. Members of the LTIA Regional Awards Committee also attended the event where they received a Plaque of Appreciation in gratefulness to their dedicated efforts during the LTIA assessment.

The Awarding ceremony started with a Welcome Remarks from Engr. Ariel O. Iglesia, Ceso V. ARD Iglesia highlighted the important roles of the Lupong Tagapamayapa in ensuring amicable settlement of cases. ARD Iglesia also provided an overview of the activity. BLGS Director and concurrent DILG Regional Director MANUEL Q. GOTIS, CESO III also provided an inspirational remarks. Director Gotis congratulated the Regional Winners and mentioned the brief history of the LTIA implementation. Director Gotis also cited the important roles of the Lupon Members on peacekeeping efforts. According to Director Gotis, the government saved around 30 Billion Pesos since the Katarungang Pambarangay was implemented. Lastly, Director Gotis mentioned the plan of the BLGS for the conduct of a National Warding ceremony which may be conducted in Davao City on the occasion of Local Government month on October.

The Awarding Ceremony ended with a closing remarks prepared by HON. JOSE ERWIN C. ESGUERRA, Sr, the Regional President of the Liga ng mga Barangay.
